Is Anyone Up for an Afghan Crochet-A-Long?

I don’t know if it’s me, but I’ve been in the mood for fairly simple projects, and this one really looks like a blanket I could use pretty much throughout the year.  I’m looking for some company with this one because it may be a bit tedious getting through all those easy steps – LOL!  I know, I know, I said I wanted simple, I’ve got it, and it now it may be too much.  Well, you all know what it’s like making an afghan, and if you don’t, join me!  It’s very gratifying when it’s done and you have a useful item for around the house.  And let’s not forget about the ooh’s and ah’s to assuage your ego that you will inevitably get when you casually throw this over the back of your chair at work or drape it over your neighbor’s fence to “air” it out.

The schedule for this would probably be the month of August.  Don’t roll your eyes!  When you see the pattern you’ll see this is done in piecework, and it doesn’t come together until the end.  Use the thick blanket on your legs during the hottest part of the summer as motivation to finish.  Good idea, right?

I want to hear from interested parties, so don’t be shy!

Crochet-A-Long Finished!

It is cute!

I finished it – then decided to put it up for sale!  LOL  However, sometimes I need a little feedback on the items I’m offering. I put this Halloween Pumpkin Face Throw on sale this morning on my Etsy account. It takes awhile to make, so I felt the pricing was good, but it is only 49″ square.  Feedback, feedback!  Click on the picture if you want to see the Etsy listing with all the pictures.  Thank you guys.

A Week into the Crochet-A-Long…

…where I appear to be the only one engaged in it! LOL No matter. I’m making something I want and I just wanted company.  I have finished the blocks and am now working on the face features.  It is SMALL.  The title should have been more along the lines of “Pumpkin Face Towel” or “Pumpkin Face Baby Blanket”!  I hadn’t really planned on using it heavily, so this fits in with my interior decorating scheme called White Trash Bed and Breakfast look.  On the plus side,  I’m going faster than I had anticipated, so if you’re on the fence about joining in with me, here’s the pattern link.  I guarantee it won’t mess up your Christmas projects schedule as it has taken me so very little time to get where I am now, and I haven’t been going full-speed on it.  In fact, as you can see by my video, I’ve even had time to trash a square and still be this far.

Talk to you all later – mwah!

Crochet-A-Long Progress and a Surprising Endorsement

I don’t know how many of you, if any, are starting your Pumpkin Face Throw with me, so I’ll assume some of you are and just haven’t chimed in.  I wanted to share a technique with you that will minimize the gap when joining in the round.  Please click here for the video!

I also wanted to mention that my blog views have been going off the chart (for me, at least!) because Lion Brand Yarn mentioned my Halloweenie Beanie in their Twitter feed – !  I was thrilled that one of my favorite and most frequently used yarn companies;

1.) Actually noticed my work among thousands of other offerings online

2.) Were kind enough to share the info

I mean, it’s not an Oscar or a Grammy Award, but, hey – for those of us who knit and crochet, it’s pretty special!

Post script – Lion Brand also shared this on their Facebook page – eee!

Oh. My. God.

You’re probably wondering “What’s with the title?” I’ll tell you.  I am going to write about the misunderstandings a long-term marriage can experience when it comes to the wife going into a yarn shop.  You know, Oh, I’ll be right in and out because I know exactly what I want.  Now…I did tell him that; HOWEVER, that was only if we went to the grocery store first, then went to Jo-Ann Crafts.  But it didn’t work that way.  We went to Jo-Ann’s first, so I felt I had a little time to play.  Big mistake.  I have never seen my husband of 31 years just keep dogging me to leave.  I was actually a little sneaky, a little willful in wanting to look at all the yarn.  I had another project in mind for a friend, and I thought, well, while we’re here…you know.  But still, he kept bothering me and bothering me until I threw up my hands in frustration and said OK!  Let’s leave.  I think next time we’re out running around and he decides to drop into his hobby shops, instead of waiting patiently in the car with the air conditioner running and all my apps going on my cell phone, I’ll go with him and start whining like a two year-old, “What, you’re not done yet?”  The war is on!  LOL

Oh, and a post script.  You may notice a have a size “I” crochet hook lying innocently among the yarn, and you may be thinking What?  She doesn’t have an “I” hook?!  I want to assure you, that yes, yes I do have an “I” hook, but I’m slowly changing over to the more ergonomically correct hooks in order to alleviate my carpal tunnel symptoms.

Post-post script.  Ok, so maybe I was just having an off day and being a strong, independent woman (and other words that don’t mean “bitch”).  See you in the funny pages!

Here are the colors for the CAL blankie! Ain’t they purty?

Blatant Advertising….And a Nudge for the Hookers Out There

You know you want it!

You know you want it!

While doing a countdown to Friday so I may start on the CAL  (yes, that’s a link for the crocheters aka “hookers” out there…click on it if you haven’t checked it out already), I decided to play with some novelty yarn.  I’ve done this particular ribbon-type yarn before, but it’s been awhile.  I rather like this particular yarn because there’s a gold sequin edge along the ruffles.  I know, I know, it doesn’t really sound like my style, but it was so cute, and this color – oh! – had to do it.  And now you can have one too.  Think of how cool it would look on you during the holiday seasons…there are other colors to choose from.  Click on the pic, it will take you there, and check it out.  If you don’t think you’ll like it, but know someone who would, pass it on.  Sharing is caring.  It’s all good.

Crochet-A-Long!

Halloween CAL

You know you want to do it!

I’ve got Halloween on my mind, and I can’t be the only one.  I know, I know, we should be working on our Christmas gifts, but I would like to squeeze in a Halloween project.  Something we can do together.  And be done with in…oh…a month.  So you could have plenty of time to return to your Christmas gifts, or get them started.  I’d like to get this started as soon as possible, so we could all enjoy the blanket for awhile before having to pack it away with all the other Halloween decorations to await next year!  As this is worked with Red Heart’s Super Saver yarn, so this will definitely be easy on the pocket!  I shall be starting on Friday, September 5th, and I’ll be keeping you posted of my progress.  If you decide to join, definitely write about your progress and upload those pics!  It can be so motivating when the “doldrums” kick in.

So who’s with me?
